Swami Vivekananda - The chief disciple of the 19th century mystic Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa and the founder of Ramakrishna Mission. He is considered a key figure in the introduction of Hindu philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga in Europe and America and is also credited with raising interfaith awareness, bringing Hinduism to the status of a world religion during the end of the 19th century. G.V. Iyer's biopic on this legendary man, titled 'Vivekananda' is one of the most moving and emotional films I've seen to date. The late filmmaker manages to show us the life of a man who had a voice, who respected his Guru, and went down in History as a philosopher. It's one enlightening cinematic experience! The soundtrack is wonderful. The performances are wonderful, but the one performance that stands out, is undoubtedly, by Mithun Chakraborty. As Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa, the legendary actor delivers a superb performance. He was awarded his 3rd National-Award for his work here, and he deserved it. The actor who plays Vivekananda is very good. Shammi Kapoor, Hema, Anupam Kher and others leave a mark. On the whole, 'Vivekananda' is a must watch. Two Big Thumbs Up!
