  • Sunil Shetty's best action film from the 90s

    superindrajit2012-03-29

Sunil Shetty is one of the finest Bollywood actors in Bollywood. Whether it's mindless action, comedy, or even serious roles, he always manages to excel. He makes his act look realistic despite giving crap films at the start of his career. To me, it was Gopi Kishan(1994) that changed him from a struggling action hero to a successful one. In Dilwale(1993) it was Ajay Devgan who got more praise than Sunil. In films like Anth and Sunil's debut Balwaan, his acting wasn't anything great. He was wasted but those films became big hits at the box office. Despite Pehchaan(1992) flopping, Sunil's career was filled with hits only to be washed out by a lot of films which either flopped or were average grossers from 1995 till 1997 when he finally got superhit films like Border and hit films like Bhai. Krishna is one of his solo action films in the year 1996, the film had potential to be a perfect film but as most films in the 90s, the film suffers from things like stretched out action scenes and some crude comedy. However, those are the only weaknesses of the film. Sunil Shetty had a not so good time as most of his 1996 releases flopped. Shastra was a flop, Vishwasghaat was a flop, Rakshak was average because it had more hit songs and better acting from Shetty, Ek Tha Raja was a flop as well. If there was a movie that saved him from having a flop year, it was Krishna. The film got an excellent opening and it went on to become a semi-hit at the box office. The film's story is about a poor guy Sunil who's ambition is to make it big in the world as a pilot. His love interest is played by Karishma Kapoor. However, he gets framed and jailed for doing an illegal deal. All he did was try to report the guy who was responsible for this deal at the airfield. However, his seniors were bribed and based on fake evidence, he was sent to prison. Some random minister gets him bailed out and he get's a new name Krishna. He is now an undercover guy who with the help of the minister is able to go into the underworld and wipe out these criminals. His mom dies after she finds out the guy who is getting married to his sister is one of the bad guys. Will Sunil take his revenge? How will Sunil found out the powerful leader who is actually behind all these crimes? Sunil managed to kill Cobra the main leader but there is another person who is evil? Who is he? Find out by watching this action packed film Krishna. Direction by S. Deepak is good, he really knows how to handle a typical movie. Almost every scene is well handled, everything works except the forced comedy which was always there in Bollywood. Action is good but some of it is overdone and violent. I hate how Sunil Shetty has this stupid rule where he get's beaten up first and when the person hitting him is tired, he will strike. However, in general, the action is good. Music is good as well, the Jhanjharia track is simply superb with nice choreography and Abhijeet's singing is fabulous. Another awesome song is Koi Kaise Mohabbat Chupaye which is very melodious and the guitar portions are superb. Sunil Shetty once again proves that he is one of the finest action heros in Bollywood. His expressions have improved and his action is as usual a huge entertainment. His action was the major reason he got noticed in Bollywood. However, it took him a while to become a good actor as well as a decent dancer. Karishma Kapoor for once doesn't overact badly but she still shouts in parts. The scene where she tries to get Krishna to confess that he's Sunil is laughably bad. Villains like Tinu Anand, Mohan Joshi, and Shakti Kapoor are typecast but they have improved as villains. The rest provide decent support. Dialogues are superb and very power packed. The dialogue which Sunil delivers after getting beaten badly "Aap Marte Marte Thak Jaoge, Par Mein Mar Khate Khate Thakoonga Nahin, Main Tab Tak Nahin Thakta, Jab Tak Mera Dushman Thak Nahin Jaata" is superb. The action following the dialogue is superb too but this dialogue really stands out in the entire movie. There are several other dialogues which are superb like this but this one is the best of the lot. On the whole, Krishna is a decent film which has not only been well directed but well edited. Hat's off for S. Deepak, he gave Sunil a film with a decent plot and his only hit in an average 1996 year for Sunil Shetty.

  • 4.5 What The HELL ?

    scofield72016-04-04

Tinu Anand's Krishna Is One Of His Carrer's Best Film In Terms Of Writing. As Well As The Best Acting Performance Of Suniel Shetty Till 2016 After Koyelanchal(2014) The Film Starts On A Gritty And Powerful Note Inside A Jail And That Scene That First Scene Is Very Well Written In Itself. Krishna Does Have Its Share Of Weakness But It Amply Captures The Broken Psych And Will Of A Covert Or Undercover Agent Who Loses All For His Duty And Country. Some Of Film's Dialogues Are Really Good The Film Shows The Nexus Between Mumbai Underworld,Drug Trade And Corrupt Politicians. Cinematography Of The Film Is Also Very Good And Gritty. The Films Just Drags And Falls Because Of Its Weaker Climax Otherwise In Terms Of Acting Performances And Action Scenes This Film Is Real Good. I Don't Get How This Film Has 4.5 When It Deserves At least 7

Sunil Shetty acting is really mind blowing and movie is also so superb

  • Kind of better than the worst

    varghesejunior2012-08-09

Like title says, this film is one of the better ones among Sunil Shetty's horrible films of the 90's like Anth, Qahar, etc. This is much better. Story is about a young aspiring pilot who goes undercover with cops' guidance to expose the underworld. He becomes the so called "krishna" to find the villains and eliminate them. Concept is good, acting on part of all actors is good, songs are melodious, action is good. Some choreography is meaningless and unwanted, so scenes look silly, the climax is kind of not so remarkable. They could've made it better. This film is watchable, but again, if you are willing to sit through it for over 2 and a half hours. Else, don't bother.
