Creative vision and very good animation carries a more obvious message
The concept here is a little bit pat when you boil it down to words and this is why I probably shouldn't because it doesn't highlight what the film does well. Anyway, essentially we have a lone character find a heart (love, happiness, whatever you want it to be really). This results in others wanting it too and nobody considering sharing possible. What follows is that all the characters fighting for the heart start to become one big mass of intertwined characters and creatures, all battling against one another for the same thing with an end result that is a little bit predictable – or at least it would be if the manner of delivery of this parable didn't keep you focused on that instead. In terms of animation it is not only very well done but it is creative. The characters are humanoid in shape but are structured differently and their bodies and heads change constantly as they morph and twist round each other. Visually it is hard to describe (as I just proved) but it is very well done with incredibly smooth and fluid animation all filled with images and shapes. Ultimately the message and conclusion is a simple one but the manner of delivery does really carry it because there is a lot more to it when you get caught up into the twisted yet at times appealing animation and the energy with which it is delivered.
Didn't really like it
"Heart" is an 8-minute movie from 5 years ago directed by Erick Oh, who worked on several pretty famous films recently in the animation department. Unfortunately, here he cannot convince me with his solo effort. This has nothing to do with the depressing atmosphere of the film, but on the one hand subjectively with the animation style that I am not too fond of and on the other hand that the character's actions and struggle for the heart seemed a bit repetitive, even at this very short runtime only. And finally, the crass contrast in terms of color between the heart and the creatures is nothing particularly new either. I hope Oh can use the experience from "Brave", "Monsters University" and "Inside Out" and his next short film (if he ever makes one again) will be superior to his work here. Not recommended.

dramatic, vertigo of senses, admirable work, full of senses who are just the conclusion of the viewer after its end. the energy and the great show. and the crumbs from Salvador Dali universe. as virtue of this short animation , seductive for music and for the tension and for the desire to define its story behind lines and obscure characters. sure, in part an experiment. in same measure, a parable. and a beautiful example of great story as right tools use .
