Amityville Vanishing Point: Definetly among the worst of the Amityville movies
Vanishing Point wasn't easy to find, took me a fair while and sadly my search did not pay off. This pitifully amateurish effort is further example of why the Amityville name needs to be trademarked or something needs to be done to cease this endless influx of dreadful cashins. Set in a boarding house a bunch of people starting dropping dead and yadayada has some connection to Amityville. The cast are dreadful, the editing is painful and the whole thing is an embarassment in film making. It's not about the budget, I appreciate limitations imposed on film makers but this is just poorly made and would have been regardless. Everyone involved should consider an alternative career choice. The Good: Nope The Bad: Bad sound editing Terrible video editing Moronic story Awful acting Things I Learnt From This Movie: I have one final Amityville movie to watch, after that I think I'm going to pretend any future releases don't exist for the sake of my sanity
We are basement
A woman dies from what appear to be iodine stains on her wrist. An odd detective shows up to investigate a group of women. This is made by "Disck" pictures and somewhere a clever 7th grader is getting a high-five for coming up with that. The credits introduce the bands who supply us with a horrible sound track except for one good song. The acting and dialogue were bad. There is a large fake male organ that ejaculates "face on" making this somewhat "X" rated. There is also the typical "R" stuff such as F-words and topless females getting it on. To be kind to the film would be to describe it as "arthouse" which means it was bad and I have no idea what they were trying to accomplish. Congratulations if you make it past 7 minutes. You get a punch on the hackers card for sitting all the way through it without using the FF/skip buttons. Filmed on Staten Island, close enough to Amityville for you non-New Yorkers.
Cheap but not to bad
Ok I see problems with this one. Even thou it had a good story line. And it was king of scary. It was very cheap. The sound was 10 minutes ahead of the picture. That did make it had to watch. It was not well edited. But on good side. It was well written and scary. It is the 13th part to the Amityville series. The 8th one Amityville dollhouse was better. Still I would have to say a lot better then the 12th one Amityville play house. Still this a good movie a lot better then the silence of the lambs. It is kind scary. Try watching it. If you some one who tires to enjoy a horror story you might like it. Do have high expectations it is no The Exorcist.
No more Mr. Nice cowboy
Taking place in a boarding house, a group of girls mourn the passing of their friend who died from self inflicted sounds on the cold mean streets. Now the residents are being picked off one by one and now they must team together to stop the madman before he takes them all as sacrifices. Returning back to Long Island the movie seems to copy the serial style of twin peaks with unusual characters like cowboy detective and the boarding house owner who speaks out of her head as if awakening from a dream. Being Dylan Greenberg's first film I want to spare any harsh criticism, but it showed just how not to make a movie, the film has a tired caste, drags on in spots, no scares and the scenes leading up to Margret's death are told through in no particular order making it very confusing. Better luck next time. At this point the possession angle has been rubbed thin without offering anything we haven't seen before. It tries to be a deep psychological horror, but instead comes off as phony and without any real conviction. Almost like a made for TV movie of pretty little liars more then anything. The house again looks nothing like the original even though it seems it was always looked refurbished. The only praise worth giving is the spooky soundtrack which felt wasted on a cheap money grab. Skip this one unless your a fan of American horror stories since it copied the overall style.
